It’s an interesting time for WWE as SmackDown moved to USA Network months ago and Raw is set to make the jump to Netflix next week. WWE is also adding a third hour to the blue brand and the first three hour SmackDown is set to air live tonight.
Ahead of the show Dr. Chris Featherstone is reporting that with SmackDown adding a third hour showcasing more underutilized talent has become a major focus internally.
One name who has been discussed for more television time is Blair Davenport. The belief is that Davenport will be “off and running” with the new three hour format for SmackDown.
So far it’s been confirmed that Nia Jax will be defending her WWE Women’s Championship against Naomi tonight, and Shinsuke Nakamura will face off against Andrade in a non-title match. Cody Rhodes is also set to make an appearance.
Stay tuned for more updates on this week’s episode of SmackDown as they become available.
