For weeks now the stars of the women’s division have been competing in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Title tournament, and the tournament came to an end on Monday night. Aliyah & Raquel Rodriguez faced off against Iyo Sky & Dakota Kai in the finals on Raw and it was Aliyah & Raquel who walked out with the gold.
The win came as a surprise to many as Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky seemed like they were the heavy favorites to win the tournament. However, it looks like WWE may have big plans for Raquel Rodriguez.
Dave Meltzer recently discussed Raquel’s status on Wrestling Observer Radio and he noted that WWE officials are trying to get her over as a big star, and that’s one of their goals at the moment.
Raquel Rodriguez is a former NXT Women’s Champion and her WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship win marks her first title win since joining the main roster, so it will be interesting to see where things go from here. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
