WWE has made some major changes to Raw and SmackDown over the last few years as both shows have found new homes. Raw moved to Netflix in January and Friday Night SmackDown made the jump to USA Network in December of 2024. Shortly after SmackDown moved to USA Network the show expanded to three hours and it looks like the three hour format will be returning to the blue brand.
WrestleVotes is reporting that WWE and USA Network have made the decision to move SmackDown back to three hours. The change will begin with the January 2nd episode which is set to air live from Buffalo, New York.
According to sources, WWE and USA Network have decided to move SmackDown back to three hours, beginning with the January 2nd show from Buffalo, NY.

After moving to a three hour show back in January, SmackDown reverted to three hours on July 4th. There’s currently no word on whether or not the change to three hours is permanent.
This week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown is shaping up to be a big show as The Last Time Is Now Tournament is set to continue. Jey Uso and The Miz will be facing off in a first round match and LA Knight is set to face off against a mystery opponent.
