WWE Signing More Talents Soon? Mickie James Update, Shinsuke Nakamura Retains

Former WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James has signed a deal with WWE, and it looks like she’s headed to the SmackDown brand. The deal that Mickie James signed is reportedly a three year contract.

It looks like WWE could be offering deals to other talents soon, as PWInsider reports that WWE is currently in “signing mode.” WWE is apparently watching iPPVs and writing up agent reports on the performers. The company is expected to sign some more names in the first quarter of 2017.

As noted, General Manager William Regal announced that Shinsuke Nakamura would defend his NXT Championship against Samoa Joe in a steel cage match at the NXT live event in Melbourne, Australia. Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Samoa Joe to win the match and retain his title.

You can check out a video clip from the cage match below.

A series of qualifying matches is set to kick off next week on NXT, and the winner will eventually go on to challenge Nakamura.
