Brock Lesnar was advertised for a big face to face confrontation with Roman Reigns on Raw this week, but it didn’t end up happening. Roman Reigns cut a promo by himself, and it was later reported that WWE made a last minute change to the script.
Why WWE made the change remains to be seen, but it appears that Brock’s absence is being worked into his storyline with Roman Reigns, as WWE posted the following update regarding Lesnar’s status:
“After Universal Champion Brock Lesnar failed to meet his WrestleMania challenger, Roman Reigns, face-to-face on this week’s Raw, WWE.com reached out to The Beast’s advocate for an explanation or, at the very least, a rebuttal to The Big Dog’s incendiary critique of the champion on the broadcast. Unfortunately, Heyman has not responded to requests for comment.
Reporters have also contacted the office of Raw General Manager Kurt Angle, but following Triple H’s attack on the WWE Hall of Famer in the wake of Stephanie McMahon’s confrontation with Ronda Rousey, Angle remains unavailable.”
Brock’s absence provided perfect ammunition for Roman Reigns’ promo this week as he criticized the current champion for being a part timer.
It’s been speculated that Brock could be on his way out after WrestleMania 34, and now it looks like WWE could be playing up that speculation heading into Mania.
