There are quite a few wrestlers on the WWE main roster, but it looks like at least one name has been written off TV.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane is returning to Japan to be with her husband.
The move has reportedly been in the works for some time, and WWE has known about it since May.
Kairi Sane was legitimately injured by Nia Jax when she was thrown into the ring steps during an episode of Raw that was taped on 5/26. The match had to be stopped during the tapings, and edited for TV.
Sane hasn’t been around, but she is listed for the WWE Raw tapings today, and she is cleared to compete.
A decision was made not to bring up her injury on television.
The idea before she was legitimately injured by Nia Jax was for WWE to do a career ending injury angle with Kairi Sane later when she was ready to leave. The plan was to set up an angle so that the person who ended her career would challenge Asuka for her title at SummerSlam.
It’s being said that plans may have changed now that Paul Heyman has been removed from his position as Executive Director of Raw.
Charlotte Flair or Shayna Baszler who likely would have been put in the career ending injury angle spot, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
Nia Jax was not scheduled to be the person who ended her career.
There’s talk that once Kairi Sane’s WWE contract is up she will wrestle one more year in Japan and then retire.
