Fightful Select is reporting that the talk going around backstage is that WWE is trying to get Steve Austin for a match at WrestleMania 38. According to the report WWE has made significant overtures towards Austin for a return to the ring on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
It was also noted that when Fightful asked people in WWE about the situation there was a wide range of responses with some people being coy, and others saying they assume the return will happen. Austin is expected to have a physical role at WrestleMania at the very least.
There are some who believe that Kevin Owens is being set up to do something with Austin based on his anti-Texas promo from Raw. The report also noted that Austin’s return was discussed as far back as January, and Kevin Owens has been talked about as the opponent internally.
Steve Austin has not wrestled since he was defeated by The Rock at WrestleMania 19. Stay tuned for updates.
