It’s clear that WWE is motivated to lock down their top stars as it’s recently been reported that Dominik Mysterio, Rey Mysterio, Charlotte Flair and Bayley have signed new deals.

Now Fightful Select is reporting that WWE has been in talks with Cody Rhodes about a multi-year contract. The word going around is that the company is trying to lock The American Nightmare down long term.

The terms of the deal are unknown, but everyone in the industry who has spoken on the subject expects Cody Rhodes to get a sizable raise when the deal is done. The contract extension is said to a priority of TKO, and people who spoke to Fightful were confident that a deal will eventually get done.

Around Thanksgiving Cody Rhodes got a new bus which led to some thinking that he already signed a new deal. However, a new contract has not been finalized as of this writing.

Cody Rhodes parted ways with WWE in 2016 and he went on to become one of the top stars on the independent circuit. In 2019 he was one of the key figures who helped launch AEW, but he parted ways with All Elite Wrestling in 2022 then went on to return to WWE at WrestleMania 38.

The American Nightmare won the 2023 Royal Rumble then went on to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the WrestleMania 39 main event. Unfortunately for Cody he didn’t win the match, but it’s been rumored for some time that a Cody vs. Roman rematch could potentially be on the table for WrestleMania 40.
