All Elite Wrestling has changed the wrestling landscape in a drastic way ever since the company was announced back in January, and WWE has taken notice.
It was recently reported that WWE is going through the motions to make sure that they can counter program AEW at the drop of a hat, and there’s speculation that NXT may play a big role in WWE’s strategy in counter programming All Elite Wrestling.
AEW will be airing weekly on TNT later this year and Wednesday is the rumored night for AEW’s TV show. It’s also rumored that NXT may start airing on FS1 on Wednesday nights to go head-to-head with AEW.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the plan is to “absolutely” use main roster stars in NXT if NXT goes head-to-head with AEW.
One issue that could possibly present a problem for NXT airing Wednesday nights on FS1 is that Big East College Basketball also airs that night during their season.
It’s also expected that a weekly studio will air on FS1 on Tuesday nights with Renee Young as the host.
