WWE Reportedly Scraps Plans For Big Title Change

It’s Survivor Series season, which means WWE is putting all of the pieces in place for when the brands go to war later this month.

Current plans call for NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong, Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura, and US Champion AJ Styles to face off in a non-title triple threat match at the event, but it looks like WWE officials originally had something different in mind.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Shinsuke Nakamura was originally supposed to lose the IC Title before Survivor Series and get replaced in the triple threat match. There’s speculation that Daniel Bryan was planned to beat Nakamura and win the Intercontinental Title going into Survivor Series.

However, it’s also being reported that Bray Wyatt is scheduled to defend his title against Daniel Bryan at Survivor Series, and the match will be made official soon.

It’s believed that original plans for Bray Wyatt called for him to face The Miz at the pay-per-view, as the two were supposed to shoot an angle on SmackDown following Crown Jewel, but it was ultimately scrapped due to the travel issues with talents returning from Saudi Arabia.
