Drew McIntyre has been having a great year so far, as he won the Royal Rumble, then went on to defeat Brock Lesnar to become WWE Champion at WrestleMania 36.
McIntyre successfully defended his belt against Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank, and now he’s set to defend the belt against Bobby Lashley at Backlash.\
It looks like WWE already had another feud lined up for Drew, but plans for the feud have been canceled.
WrestleTalk is reporting that Paul Heyman had big plans for Jinder Mahal on Raw, as he wanted the former WWE Champion to feud with Drew McIntyre over the title.
It’s being said that the feud wasn’t supposed to be a long-term feud, but there were plans for Mahal to get a significant push so he could challenge for the belt.
Plans for the feud have now been scrapped because Jinder Mahal is once again out of action due to injury only weeks after his return.
