Drew McIntyre is having a huge year, as he won the Royal Rumble and went on to defeat Brock Lesnar to become WWE Champion at WrestleMania 36 back in April.
McIntyre is currently set to defend his WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley at Backlash, and Lashley has been received a pretty decent push on Raw ever since he aligned himself with MVP.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Paul Heyman wanted to put MVP with Bobby Lashley because he wants MVP to be Lashley’s mouthpiece for a title run.
It was also noted that MVP was furloughed as a producer because WWE doesn’t need so many right now, so he is just an on-air talent right now. It’s possible he may work the producer role again in the future.
