Now that there’s a new regime in charge of WWE there are many former Superstars who are interested in returning, and during a recent interview Alberto Del Rio noted that he has not spoken to the new regime about a possible return while adding that in the past he talked to John Laurinaitis.
Fightful Select reports that even last year a WWE higher up said that “There’s no f**king way that happens” while talking about a potential return for Del Rio. That same higher up stated this week that there were never any serious conversations about bringing Alberto Del Rio back since he parted ways with the company. It was noted that those conversations were portrayed as Del Rio trying to gauge interest in himself rather than being back and forth negotiations.
It’s being reported that people in WWE who would need to be on board with the idea of a return for Del Rio haven’t been keen on him dating back to before he parted ways with the company in 2016.
A tenured person in WWE was asked if Del Rio’s name had been pitched in recent years for a possible Royal Rumble appearance, but they couldn’t remember that ever happening.
