Over the last few months the Monday Night Raw commentary team has gone through a lot of changes, and the coronavirus pandemic has forced WWE to make even more adjustments.
Samoa Joe recently joined Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton on the Raw commentary team, and now the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that Joe is not cleared to return, and he is now seen as the “permanent replacement” for Jerry Lawler.
What this means is that if Samoa Joe gets cleared then he’ll be used in a role where he announces and WWE shoots angles for him to wrestle.
However, it’s also being said that things could change later if WWE feels there are depth issues, and it’s also possible that Joe could mix the two roles.
Stay tuned for updates.
