The NXT brand has been going through some big changes ever since it was rebranded as NXT 2.0 back in September, and recently some key figures were released from the brand.

PWInsider is now reporting that the NXT creative team will no longer operate independently moving forward. Under Triple H’s regime the NXT creative team operated in a separate bubble, but it’s being said that will no longer be the case, at least short term.

According to the report the NXT creative team has been informed that they report directly to, and answer to Bruce Prichard and Christine Lubrano. This is how the Raw and SmackDown teams operate, and it now appears that the days of NXT creative being its own separate thing are over.

It’s also being reported that Johnny Russo will be the heading the NXT writing team moving forward, and he will work under Prichard and Lubrano’s supervision.

Russo joined the creative team in 2011 and worked on Raw and Smackdown from 2015-2018. He was promoted to the role of Senior Creative Writer/Producer in August 2018, and has been working with NXT since August of 2019. Johnny Russo became lead writer of NXT in July of 2020.

Dewey Foley, son of Mick Foley, and Anthony Golden Jr. also remain on the NXT creative team. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
