The coronavirus pandemic hit the wrestling world hard, but things are slowly getting back to normal. WWE recently announced a 25 city tour that see the return of fans, and the tour will kick off in July. AEW will also be returning to the road in July.
It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that tickets for most of the upcoming WWE shows have not been selling well. It’s even being said that as far as tickets sold per show WWE is lagging behind AEW, although it’s worth noting that all of AEW’s upcoming shows are television tapings, whereas WWE will be holding live events as well as TV tapings.
It was noted that ticket sales for the upcoming SmackDown in Houston, TX are strong and the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in Fort Worth, TX is almost sold out. The August 2 Raw in Chicago has also sold over 6,000 tickets.
However, a lot of touring shows that WWE currently has scheduled have reportedly sold less than 2,000 tickets. While WWE is ahead in Dallas, AEW is currently outperforming WWE in ticket sales in Miami and Charlotte.
