Recently there’s been a lot of talk about former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White as he lost a Loser Leaves Japan match and the word is that he’s looking to move over to the United States.
Fightful Select reports that WWE sources have confirmed that the company has long had interest in Jay White. However, anything related to the possibility of White joining WWE is being kept quiet.
It was reported back in January that White’s contract with NJPW would be up soon and that multiple companies were interested in him. It’s being said that WWE felt confident they could land him, but it’s not a guarantee it will happen. It was also noted that there were never any plans for Jay White to appear at the Royal Rumble despite online speculation as his deal with NJPW wasn’t up.
The belief is that White’s NJPW contract will be up “sometime between NJPW Battle in the Valley and WrestleMania.” NJPW would love to keep Jay White and he also has positive relationships with Impact Wrestling and AEW.
