Recently NJPW held Wrestle Kingdom 17 in Tokyo and Jay White dropped the IWGP Heavyweight Championship to Kazuchika Okada in the main event. Now that White is no longer champion it seems that he could be making some moves.
Fightful Select reports that Switchblade Jay White’s contract with NJPW is set to expire soon, and per people in the company he’s expected to leave New Japan. Those who have spoken on the subject have said that both WWE and AEW are interested in signing Jay White, and it’s being said that WWE sources seem confident the company will be able to sign the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
However, that’s not officially at this point in time as other companies are still unable to reach out to Jay White, so it’s being said that there’s no guarantee he’ll be leaving NJPW. White is currently set to face Hikuleo in a loser leaves Japan match on February 11. People on the NJPW roster are of the belief that Jay White wants to be in the United States.
As of right now no deal is finalized and a deal is not expected to be finalized until Jay White’s deal with NJPW is up. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
