We live in a day and age where you really never know what to expect. But we had a pretty good idea that Roman Reigns was still going to defeat Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 34 to become the WWE Universal Champion. This story was something WWE had been working on for years and it all looked like it was going to come full circle back to New Orleans. Of course, that didn’t happen and the Beast Incarnate is still the top champion on Raw.
But apparently, there is a good reason why so many fans believed Roman Reigns would be winning in New Orleans because that’s exactly what WWE wanted you to think.
Brad Shepard of Bodyslam.net reports that much of what happened surrounding Brock Lesnar and WWE on the Road To WrestleMania is even up for debate backstage in regards to what is real.
After Brock Lesnar got backstage he reportedly hurled the Universal Title in Vince McMahon’s direction and there was a little bit of a scene as well. Other reports said Shane McMahon even got in Lesnar’s face during this altercation but as Shepard pointed out he’s spoken to people who believe this could have been a work as well. But it was noted that this might have been fed to news sites in order to stir up more doubt.
It was also noted how Vince McMahon was working everybody before WrestleMania as he was telling people that Brock Lesnar was leaving to go back to the UFC after WrestleMania but that obviously isn’t happening so rapidly. At this point, it was also noted how Brock Lesnar is expected to stick around for another couple of months at least. After all, he still has to re-enter the USADA testing pool and serve out the remainder of his suspension before he can fight again.
