WWE’s biggest show of the year is still months away, but it’s never too early to talk about potential main events for WrestleMania 40. The Rock recently appeared on the Pat McAfee show, and he got the wrestling world talking when he said he would be open to facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania next year.
Sports Illustrated is reporting that the decision regarding the main event will not be The Rock’s to make. It’s also being said that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is not a topic of substance in WWE and there are currently no plans for it to happen.
Even if the main event was offered to The Rock it’s not a sure thing that he would be able to accept as it would depend on his filming obligations. The Rock was injured during his WrestleMania 29 main event with John Cena and it’s being said The Rock could be putting himself at risk if he steps in the ring again.
Right now it seems that Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns is the favorite to main event WrestleMania 40 next year. Rhodes failed to defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, but WWE recently teased that their rivalry is far from done when they crossed paths on SmackDown last week.
