Over the last week WWE officials have been reacting to positive COVID-19 tests, and talents have been getting pulled from shows as a precautionary measure. Roman Reigns happened to be one of the talents who got pulled, and it sounds like WWE has big plans for the Universal Champion.
Roman Reigns is set to defend his title against Brock Lesnar at the Day 1 pay-per-view, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the match will effect plans for WrestleMania 38 in some way. The match is considered to be a very big main event, and every precaution was taken to make sure that Reigns, Lesnar and Heyman can perform at Day 1.
It was also noted that WWE officials considered it fortunate that there were no SmackDown tapings on 12/24 and 12/31 which lessened the need for Paul Heyman, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar to be on the road.
It’s long been rumored that WWE is planning for Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar to be the main event for WrestleMania 38, so it will be interesting to see how things play out at Day 1. The WWE Day 1 pay-per-view will air live on Saturday, January 1st. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
