UPDATE: Dave Meltzer noted on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that he’s been told from sources on both sides that reports of Fox airing Saturday Night’s Main Event are not true. Meltzer also noted that he’s been told there are no announcements coming regarding NXT airing on FS1.
Nowadays fans have plenty of WWE content to keep them busy between Raw, SmackDown Live, NXT, 205 Live, pay-per-view events and everything else on the WWE Network.
It sounds like fans are going to have even more content to consume in the years to come, as WWE recently signed a deal with Fox, and it’s rumored that the network will be looking to add more WWE programming in addition to SmackDown Live.
Now Brad Shepard is reporting via Barn Burner that WWE officials are planning to hold an occasional special event on TV, which is thought to be a reboot of Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The idea is to air the event several times throughout the year on strategically placed dates such as the Saturday night before the Super Bowl, and the event would be split between NBC and Fox.
WWE is expected to make an announcement near the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019.
It’s also being reported that WWE has agreed in principle to air NXT on FS1, but the deal hasn’t been signed yet.
The possibility of TakeOver shows airing on Fox is also reportedly being considered.
