Recently fans saw John Cena make his return to WWE programming, and he’s made it clear that he wants to challenge Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at the SummerSlam pay-per-view next month. Last week on Friday Night SmackDown during the main event segment The Tribal Chief made his way to the ring to cut a promo and declined John Cena’s challenge.
During the promo Reigns ripped on Cena and called him a nostalgia act. Roman Reigns then got a big reaction from the crowd when he compared John Cena’s schtick to missionary position.
“He came out here, the same music, the same entrance, the same run to the ring, the same outfit, the same promo, the same insults. If I wanted that, all I had to do was search online for 2005 John Cena. It’s the same thing, over and over and over. It’s like missionary position every single night.”
Fans have noticed that WWE edited the “missionary position” line out of Reigns’ promo on their YouTube channel, but it’s worth noting that the line can still be heard in the clip on the WWE on FOX YouTube channel.
After declining John Cena’s challenge Reigns accepted Finn Balor’s challenge. Despite Roman Reigns turning John Cena down it’s still expected that Reigns will defend his title against Cena at SummerSlam next month. Stay tuned for updates.
