WWE Releases Former NXT Champion And Current SmackDown Talent

In what could be first of many, WWE has made their a post-WrestleMania release. It seems every year just after WrestleMania time the WWE trims the fat so to speak. Last year they released a laundry list of talent, so this might just be the first name of a list that will later grow in length.

WWE announced today that they have come to terms with the release of Simon Gotch. While he might not be the most popular superstar on the roster, he still had great promise. The Vaudevillains just never caught on like they were planned to.

Alongside tag team partner Aiden English, The Vaudevillains rose in popularity in NXT and even captured the NXT Tag Team Championships at one point. They actually defeated Enzo and Big Cass at to become the #1 Contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships and went on the battle Blake and Murphy in a successful program to eventually snag the NXT Tag Team Gold.

However, upon their arrival on the main roster they have been rarely used. There was a time when this team with throwback morals and ideals to bring fans back to a day of yesteryear was a novel idea. But, unfortunately it never caught on in the bigger market of the WWE Universe. They also had a pretty cool entrance.

There is no word on what WWE will be doing Gotch’s tag team partner, Aiden English. They could very well put him back in his former persona where he had an opera singer gimmick. One thing is for sure, SmackDown Live needed a resurgence in their tag team division. And now they have one less tag team to fill that void.

Then again, Gotch couldn’t have been happy with the way his team had been portrayed on WWE’s main programming. So now he has a chance to seek out those future endeavors. If WWE releases anyone else, we’ll be right one so keep checking back to Still Real To Us for all the news you need to know in the ring and behind the scenes!
