This week’s episode of WWE Monday Night Raw took place from Toronto, and Chad Gable got quite the reaction out of the fans when he talked trash about the Toronto Maple Leafs. Gable then issued an open challenge which was answered by Kevin Owens.
KO picked up the win over Chad Gable on Raw, but after the match he was attacked by Gable’s partner Otis, then both members of Alpha Academy took the fight to Owens. However, Owens was able to fight back and take out Otis and Gable.
The segment led some to wonder if Kevin Owens could be turning face, but Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that it’s not clear if Owens will be a full time babyface moving forward as it may have just been something that was done for the Toronto crowd. However, it was also noted that Kevin Owens is going to be protected a lot more than he has been.
When Owens signed his new contract his role was basically to be the guy who has great matches and puts over babyfaces, but now it seems that the company is behind him.
