WWE is taking over the planet. They have always had the word “world” in the name of the company but it seems they have recently started to take that very seriously. They impressed us all with an outstanding United Kingdom Championship tournament earlier this year and the United Kingdom special was superb.
Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne practically stole the show at NXT TakeOver: Chicago a couple of weeks ago. Their match was a near perfect mixture of all things that are great about pro wrestling. Now WWE is putting the wheels in motion for even more United Kingdom Championship action.
Pro Wrestling Sheet reports WWE has just signed some of the top stars of the UK Championship Tournament to new contracts. Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne, Wolfgang, Trent Seven, and Mark Andrews have all inked new WWE deals.
WWE also has plans to run live events in the United Kingdom twice a month after the new WWE Network United Kingdom Series begins. Therefore they need all the talent they can get.
This is amazing news for fans of pro wrestling all over the world. These guys are some of the hardest working and most impressive entertainers to come into WWE’s fold for quite some time. It might be the best acquisition of a group of talent since The Radicalz jumped to WWF from WCW in January 2000.
There’s no word on whether Jim Ross and Nigel McGuinness will stay on commentary for the new show, but we can’t imagine WWE would want to change their announce team. After all, McGuinness and Ross are one of the best commentary teams in WWE today.
There is also no word on exactly when WWE plans on debuting the new United Kingdom series or when it will begin shooting. But whenever it does start, it looks like fans can expect a great show every time they tune in.
