WWE told the announce team to never say the “loser” of the Cena and Ambrose match would face Randy Orton at Hell In a Cell. They were told not to use that word out of fear that it would belittle a match between two of their biggest stars, Cena and Orton. They didn’t want this match to feel like a consolation prize for the man who didn’t grab the contract.
WWE is insistant on having both matches be booked and hyped as main events.
Cena and Orton have faced each other in 9 seperate singles matches on PPV’s. Each star has won 3 matches each clean and both men have won one match each by DQ. Orton won their previous Hell In A Cell match back in 2009.
It should also be noted that even though Orton kept saying his match would be the main event, WWE officials are strongly considering having the Ambrose/Rollins match close the show.
