WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan has been making headlines as of late as he recently did an interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport where he spoke about a number of topics.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Nick Khan was warned about what could potentially happen with AEW becoming competition for WWE on the day that he joined the company.
Khan was reportedly warned when he took the job that everyone would tell him AEW is not competition for WWE, but that if WWE didn’t make changes that AEW could potentially catch up to WWE. Nick Khan was also told that everyone the company would tell him there’s no truth to AEW becoming competition, and there’s no way it could happen.
AEW Dynamite and NXT went head to head on Wednesday nights starting in October of 2019, but earlier this year NXT moved to Tuesday nights. Following the recent releases it was reported that big changes would be made to the NXT brand, and Khan confirmed during his BT Sport interview that the brand will have a whole new look and feel.
“In terms of an NXT re-brand, look for it in the next couple of weeks. It’s going to have a whole new look, it’s going to have a whole new feel — and we believe — because of a lot of the indie wrestlers, if you will, have come through our system and are in our system with SmackDown and RAW now. We don’t want to just keep doing that same thing, we want to look elsewhere for great, young talent.”
