When Asuka was forced to relinquish her NXT Women’s Championship it was a big deal. The Empress Of Tomorrow hadn’t really came close to losing her title yet and a broken collarbone didn’t seem like a huge reason to strip Asuka of her title.
But WWE was probably looking for a way to get the title off of her anyway. Besides, she is more than ready for the WWE main roster and many speculated she would have made her main roster jump a long time ago.
It isn’t official which brand Asuka will end up on but some people were under the assumption Sasha Banks losing her Raw Women’s Championship was a sign WWE could be preparing for Asuka on Raw. Bryan Alvarez recently commented on the situation and provided some clarity
“As of a little while ago they weren’t sure where Asuka was going and the feeling was she was gonna go to Raw,” Bryan Alvarez said on Wrestling Observer Live. “I don’t think Asuka had anything to do with what happened on Monday with Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss.”
“I think the plan now all along for months now the plan has to eventually go to the Alexa Bliss feud with Nia Jax and I think that’s what they did. They just got that going. Sasha was a happy finish for once, a happy pay-per-view for once but then they knew what they wanted to do and they took it off of her so that’s the way they’re going to go so that’s my thoughts.”
No matter which brand Asuka ends up on, she will undoubtedly be a presence to deal with. She will probably assert herself into the title picture putting everyone on her brand on notice. This is going to be fun to watch.
