WWE Possibly Giving Current Superstar Historic Title Reign

It seems that WWE has been embracing the idea of giving Superstars longer title reigns as Roman Reigns recently celebrated 1,000 days as Universal Champion. The Tribal Chief has been making history with his title reign, and it looks like WWE could also be giving Gunther a prestigious spot in the history books as well.

According to the WRKD Wrestling account there have been internal talks about having Gunther be the one to surpass Honky Tonk Man as the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. It was also noted that if WWE does decide to go in that direction then Gunther would break the record on September 6th.

Gunther first won the belt when he defeated Ricochet during the March 4, 2022 episode of Friday Night SmackDown and he has defended the belt against a variety of opponents since then. As of this writing he has held the belt for 385 days while Honky Tonk Man’s record stands at 454 days.

Do you think Gunther should be the one to break Honky Tonk Man’s record? Sound off in the comments below.
