The coronavirus pandemic has forced people all over the world to adjust to a new way of life, and it was reported months ago that WWE gave wrestlers the option of staying home when the pandemic started.
Some wrestlers have taken WWE up on the offer, but it’s unclear at this point whether or not their contracts will be frozen due to the time they missed.
Dave Meltzer addressed the topic of WWE freezing contracts on Wrestling Observer Radio, and he speculated that some contracts will “absolutely” be frozen.
“With Kevin Owens it’s only been a couple of weeks… so I guess it’s not. But with Sami Zayn it probably will be. If it’s Roman Reigns, they may not want to p*** him off, and he isn’t going anywhere anyway. He is one guy who is not going to go anywhere. But with some guys absolutely they will freeze them.”
Roman Reigns has been one of WWE’s top stars for years now, and he was originally scheduled to challenge Goldberg for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania. The Big Dog opted not to wrestle at the Show of Shows this year, and he’s been out of action ever since. There’s currently not timeline for his return.
