Next week on SmackDown, AJ Styles and Luke Harper will battle for the right to face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 33 for the WWE Championship. Either man could win, but it seems that WWE officials are planning a huge debut for an NXT Superstar during their match.
It’s being reported by Four3Four that Shinsuke Nakamura could be making his main roster debut next week during the No. 1 Contender match between Harper and Styles. Since he has unfinished business in NXT, it’ll be interesting to see if WWE pulls the trigger on his debut.
The King of Strong Style and The Phenomenal One have been taunting each other on social media for a while now, but the former’s potential debut could be WWE’s way of setting up Nakamura vs. Styles for WrestleMania if WWE has changed their minds about Shane McMahon vs. Styles.
On paper, that would open the door for Luke Harper to get involved in the WWE Title match with Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton. Last year, Nakamura and Styles tore the house down at Wrestle Kingdom 10. A little over a year later, they could do the same thing at WrestleMania.
