It’s an interesting time to be a WWE fan as the company is reshuffling the deck and calling new talent up to the WWE main roster. Earlier this week at New Year’s Evil, Oba Femi successfully defended his NXT Championship against Leon Slater, but he left the belt in the ring after the match and WWE later confirmed Femi had officially vacated the title.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Oba Femi relinquishing the NXT Championship was not part of a long plan. He wasn’t booked to win the title and then vacate it.
Those who have worked with Oba Femi have nothing but great things to say about him, and those in high places in WWE think that Femi will be the biggest major player of all ahead of names like Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans.
Oba Femi not losing to Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event is seen as an indication that Femi is viewed as a Bron Breakker, and not a Jey Uso in the sense that he can be a top guy no matter what because of how the crowd reacts.
