So far WWE has released a number of surprising names in 2021, and on Friday the company released a dozen talents from NXT. It looks like the releases are going to continue as Fightful Select is reporting that a WWE official confirmed that releases will become a regular occurrence.
The unnamed company official also noted that they thought WWE had honest intentions when the company was stashing talents in 2018. Ideas were pitched for collecting talents and establishing international Performance Centers. Plans for those ideas were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company official also reportedly expressed frustration regarding the recent releases. When the official was asked who was responsible for the cuts it was noted that it was a collaborative effort, but Vince McMahon could have prevented any of the releases if he chose to.
Although releases are expected to become more regular moving forward the official noted that 2021 will likely be an anomaly due to how frequently talents have been let go. Stay tuned for updates.
