The last few months have been an exciting time for WWE as Vince McMahon returned to the company, and it was announced the day after WrestleMania that WWE will be acquired by Endeavor. Once everything is finalized WWE will merge with UFC to form one publicly traded company.
The merger has created a lot of questions regarding any changes that could be made to how the company operates, and it looks like WWE is already considering making some changes to their flagship show.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that the merger not being finalized is holding up some major changes happening. There is at least talk of exploring some major changes for Raw once the merger is finalized. However, it’s not clear at this point in time what type of changes WWE might be looking to make to the red brand.
Nick Khan talked about potential changes to Monday Night Raw while speaking on Lightshed Live a few months ago, and he noted that the company has had discussions with NBCUniversal about making changes to the third hour.
“Specifically talking to the 10 to 11 hour on Raw, it’s a three-hour program, 8 to 11 every Monday. Specifically, talking to NBCU and among ourselves about, ‘what do we do with that moving forward?’ Love where the product is now, but if you ask Triple H and ask others, ‘If we tweak this, a little more of that,’ what does that do to that 10 to 11 PM hour? It is basic cable, it’s not broadcast, we think NBCU would be supportive, but we’re not anywhere near a final conclusion on that. It’s definitely a conversation point.”
