WWE Making Major Change To SmackDown

Over the course of the last few months WWE’s flagship shows have gone through some major shifts. NXT moved to the CW, SmackDown moved to USA Network, and in January the Monday Night Raw brand will be making the jump to Netflix.

Back in October, WWE made a big change to Raw when the show transitioned to a two hour format. Since then there’s been a lot of talk about Friday Night SmackDown becoming a three hour show.

Recently WWE confirmed that SmackDown will be adding a third hour starting on January 3 when the company posted the following announcement:

“SmackDown continues to air on USA Network every Friday night at 8/7 C in the U.S. At the start of 2025, SmackDown will expand to three hours starting with the Jan. 3 episode from Phoenix, Arizona.”

One way or another the next few weeks are shaping up to be big for WWE fans as it’s been confirmed that Roman Reigns vs. Solo Sikoa and Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk will be taking place on the Raw premiere on Netflix.

WWE also appears to be shuffling the deck as the company has announced that moves are expected to be made in the weeks to come due to the transfer window, so it will be interesting to see who ends up on SmackDown.
