The NXT brand has become a big deal ever since the brand first launched and it’s always exciting when one of NXT’s finest gets called up to the WWE main roster. In the past WWE has immediately pulled talent from NXT so they could join the main roster, but it looks like the company is trying to do things in a different manner nowadays.
Fightful Select reports that the way NXT call-ups have been handled internally over the last year or so has been significantly different. The call-ups have been kept close to the vest and it’s being said that they’re less strict in terms of a talent being taken off NXT TV just to go to the main roster.
The standard procedure nowadays is a talent gets called up, and they can usually finish up on NXT TV due to the easier schedule on the WWE main roster.
A source at the Performance Center also noted that WWE feels it’s important for veterans with TV experience to have a presence on the show and at the Performance Center. The same source stated that some names have been brought in with the intention of giving them a full NXT run with no immediate plans for the main roster.
