WWE programming is available on a number of TV stations in countries around the world, but it looks like World Wrestling Entertainment lost one of its TV deals recently.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that after two decades WWE has lost its deal with Sky Sports Italy.
The report notes that WWE lost the deal due to a combination of declining viewers, and the cost of rights.
Sky Sports made the decision to drop WWE months ago, but WWE offered to air old PPVs like they did with FS1, and they did well. After losing Sky, WWE made a deal with Discovery.
It’s being said that Sky Sports did have interest in WWE after turning them down before. However, Sky just signed a deal with AEW this week, and AEW is set to air in a Friday night time slot starting 7/31.
WWE has also lost Sky Germany/Austria, and Sky U.K. in recent years.
