WWE issued a statement regarding reports on the status of the original Sin Cara and the overall character now that Hunico has been placed back under the mask.
“The original performer behind the Sin Cara mask remains under contract to WWE. WWE will continue to invest in the character and retain it as part of WWE programming.”
As noted earlier, Sin Cara’s contract with WWE expires in January but WWE has the option to renew it if they want.
