Friday night’s episode of SmackDown is set to take place from the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, MI and it was recently reported by PWInsider that Friday’s TV taping had been cancelled due to concerns about the coronavirus.
The report noted that the taping would be moved to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, FL but WWE has issued a statement noting that SmackDown will still take place in Detroit.
WWE issued the following statement:
“WWE has not cancelled Friday Night SmackDown in Detroit, however, based on the current situation, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that upcoming WWE shows are cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues.”
Quite a few events have been cancelled due to the coronavirus, but as of this writing it appears that WWE SmackDown will move forward as planned.
