On Saturday night the Hall of Fame induction ceremony aired live on the WWE Network, and while Bret Hart was giving a speech on behalf of The Hart Foundation, he was attacked by a fan who emerged from the crowd.
The man tackled Bret Hart, and caused minor injuries to the wrestling legend, and security.
Wrestlers who physically got involved in the encounter include Shane McMahon, Xavier Woods, Tyson Kidd, Curtis Axel, and Ronda Rousey’s husband Travis Browne.
According to CBS Sports, the suspect has been identified as Zachary Madsen, and he was charged with two counts of assault and trespassing after being taken into custody.
WWE issued the following statement:
“An over-exuberant fan surpassed our security at ringside and made his way briefly into the ring. The individual has been turned over to the proper authorities.”
