You just never know what’s going to happen when you watch WWE, as anyone can show up at any time. It’s not uncommon for WWE to work with high profile athletes such as Floyd Mayweather, Shaq and others, and now it looks like WWE officials have their eyes on a popular NFL player.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE is interested in possibly signing New England Patriots player Rob Gronkowski to a deal similar to the deal they’ve worked out with Ronda Rousey.
There’s been talk of Gronk’s next career move since before the most recent Super Bowl, and after the game when he was asked about possibly retiring he responded with the following: “I don’t know how you heard that but I’m definitely going to look at my future for sure. I’m going to sit down the next couple weeks and see where I’m at.”
Gronkowski’s body has taken a lot of punishment over the years, and he’s believed to be in a good position financially, as he claimed in 2015 that he hadn’t spent any of his NFL salary and was living off of his endorsement deals.
The Patriots are said to be moving forward as if there’s nothing to reports of Gronk possibly joining the pro wrestling world.
Gronkowski is no stranger to WWE, as he’s friends with Mojo Rawley and he got physically involved with Jinder Mahal during the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal last year.
