When AJ Styles made his departure from TNA there were a lot of rumors going around as to whether WWE was interested in AJ or not. Ultimately nothing ever came of the rumors and AJ ended up signing a contract with NJPW which he is currently honoring.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE now has interest in signing AJ Styles. As was previously mentioned, AJ is currently under contract with NJPW and he’s the IWGP Heavyweight Champion. WWE has made some big steps when it comes to making NXT a touring brand and it’s being reported that the company is looking to have three separate touring brands in 2016 and they’re looking to load up on talent.
This isn’t hard to believe as AJ has been away from TNA for a while now and has a lot of name value. With WWE’s recent acquisition of Samoa Joe it would be cool from a fan’s standpoint to see the two face off on a WWE branded show whether it be something on the main roster or NXT.
Here’s to hoping this happens.
