Big things happened on Monday Night Raw this week as Seth Rollins was stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and Jey Uso earned the right to face CM Punk for the vacant title at Saturday Night’s Main Event when he won a battle royal. Originally Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed were advertised for the battle royal, but Adam Pearce later announced that Breakker and Reed had been pulled from the match.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that with Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed “injuring” Seth Rollins in the storyline the feeling is that they need to keep them strong. Previously there was a plan for Breakker and Reed to win the tag team titles and make the belts more than a mid-level title by having them headline shows against top faces. Whether that still happens or not the idea is that Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed have to be kept strong.
The expectation is that Bron Breakker will end up as champion, but WWE has a plan regarding when they want that to happen. It was decided that Breakker winning the championship on Saturday Night’s Main Event, which is a Peacock exclusive and likely won’t do big numbers in terms of viewership, was not the time or place.
Regarding the battle royal the belief was that if Bron Breakker wasn’t going to win then there was no reason to put him in the match only to be eliminated.
