Back in 2020, Sting made his AEW debut and he went on to return to the ring in 2021. Since then Sting has put on some impressive performances on AEW programming, but he announced last week that his in-ring career will officially come to an end at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view in 2024.
There’s currently no word on who Sting will be facing in his retirement match as the show is still months away. However, it’s safe to say that there are a number of wrestlers who would love to retire Sting and it seems that Rob Van Dam is one of them.
While talking about possibly facing Sting in a retirement match on his 1 Of A Kind podcast Rob Van Dam said, “I’ll put him out. I’ll put him out to the pasture. Why not?”
Rob Van Dam previously faced off against Sting when they were both in TNA and it looks like RVD is open to facing The Icon one more time. Interestingly Sting and RVD are both booked for Dynamite this week. Sting is set to receive a gift from Tony Khan while Rob Van Dam will be teaming with Hook to face John Silver & Alex Reynolds.
Do you think Rob Van Dam should be the man that retires Sting? Sound off in the comments below.
