Since All Elite Wrestling first launched in 2019 fans have seen a number of WWE Hall of Famers appear on AEW programming. Some of those names have gone on to accept backstage roles with the company, but it sounds like Ricky Steamboat turned down an offer to become All Elite.
Steamboat previously appeared on AEW programming in August of 2022 and during a recent virtual signing for Captain’s Corner he explained why he turned down an offer to join the company working as an agent.
“Believe this or not, I was already asked to come on board [with AEW] in the capacity of [a road agent]. No reflection on them, great company and everything. And don’t get me wrong, the pay was going to be great but I’m at a point in my life where I’m trying to get off the road.”
Last November, Ricky Steamboat wrestled his final match when he teamed with FTR to defeat Nick Aldis, Jay Lethal, and Brock Anderson at a Big Time Wrestling event. Tony Khan has publicly said that he would love to have Ricky Steamboat for more appearances in AEW, but it remains to be seen if that’s going to happen.
