WWE revealed a number of months ago that the superstars of both Raw and SmackDown Live would be performing on Christmas and New Year’s Day as the company was set to make history by airing both shows live over the holidays.
This means that the usual Tribute To The Troops show that would usually air at this time, will now be presented much earlier. WWE is planning to film their annual special on December 5th from San Diego, California, as part of the SmackDown Live tapings so that it can later be aired on December 14th.
PWInsider.com is now reporting that WWE Hall of Famer Sgt Slaughter is set to be in attendance for the annual event and could well be part of the show next week.
Tribute to the Troops has been a holiday tradition for WWE for the past 15 years. The company has prided itself on being able to give back to the armed forces during the festive season, knowing that many men and women around the world are forced to miss the chance to spend the holidays with their families because they are needed to protect their country.
This tradition began back in 2003 and has seemingly become one of the things that many fans look forward to during this season, with Sgt Slaughter set to be part of proceedings this year, there is no doubt that WWE once again has something special planned.
