Intergender matches aren’t something that WWE does often nowadays, but they do happen from time to time. This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw featured an intergender match which saw Rhea Ripley face off against Akira Tozawa and Ripley managed to pick up the win.
It’s certainly not the first time that a woman has picked up a victory over a man in WWE as Chyna previously won the Intercontinental Championship after all. Chyna is the only woman to ever hold the Intercontinental Championship, but during a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray questioned why someone like Rhea Ripley of Charlotte Flair couldn’t hold the belt.
“Why can Chyna be the Intercontinental Champion 20 years ago but a Rhea Ripley or a Charlotte Flair can’t? Who was a better wrestler? Chyna or Charlotte Flair?”
There’s currently no telling whether or not WWE will ever let a woman hold the Intercontinental Championship again, but you can never say never when it comes to professional wrestling.
