CM Punk has been a hot topic in the wrestling world recently as it was reported that he went off script a few weeks ago when he called out Adam Page on Dynamite, and that Punk and Page have real life heat.
WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg recently addressed Punk’s status with AEW on his Oh You Didn’t Know podcast, and he noted that CM Punk was difficult to work with when they were both part of WWE.
“So, fast forward to 2022, and apparently, he’s still going into somebody else’s office talking about going home! Look, I don’t know if it’s a pattern with you or not, but it sure seems like it’s forming one to me. Look, let’s continue. I just wanted to throw a jab. I just wanted to throw a jab at Punk.”
“Look, I just remember he was kind of difficult to work with. And I didn’t know what was going on behind the scenes. I hadn’t been there that long, and I wasn’t in the inner circle. If this had happened three years later, I would have probably known a lot more of what was going on behind the scenes. So, I didn’t really know what was going on with him, but I know he was hard to deal with.”
Road Dogg went on to say that he wanted to give CM Punk the benefit of the doubt when it came to his issues with WWE at the time, but he indicated that they didn’t have the type of relationship where Punk would have talked to him about it.
“Maybe that, and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that that’s why it was. It wasn’t personal issues, but there were professional issues. Compared to how I and his relationship, he wouldn’t have talked to me about it. So, and it was just, me and Billy just kind of looked at each other, like, Woah, what do we do here? So, we did the best we could to do our stuff around him and let him be him, and we’ll be us, and you know how that worked out.”
This week AEW World Champion CM Punk faced off against interim AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, and Punk was defeated in a short squash match that only last a little over three minutes. It’s expected that Punk and Moxley will face off in a rematch at All Out. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
