The wrestling world has unfortunately lost another talented star as WWE Hall of Famer Johnny Valiant passed away on Wednesday.
WPXI reports that Valiant, real name Thomas Sullivan, was hit by a truck while crossing the road. He was not at a crosswalk according to the report. WWE issued the following statement after news of Valiant’s death broke:
“WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer “Luscious” Johnny Valiant reportedly passed away this morning at the age of 71.”
After being struck by the truck, he later died at the hospital, and according to police there was no malicious intent involved as this was just a very unfortunate accident.
“The driver of the truck stayed here on the scene. There’s no indication that this was anything other than a terrible accident at this point, but we’re still investigating,” said Det. Brian Kohlhepp.
Johnny Valiant was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996.
Our sincerest condolences go out to his family, friends and fans.
